100 Words - This House Has Been Warmed

100 Word Challenge June 11

Our house has been warmed and I, for possibly the first time in my life, did not take a single photo. Not even a phone photo.

Somehow I'm ok with that. And you'll just have to take my word for it that it all came off pretty fabulously. Housewarmings, graduations, weddings - all those life milestones for which one gathers family and friends from all corners is a wee bit nerve wracking for even the most steel-spined. But arrival time came and there was food and music and conversations and meeting of neighbors and it was all good.

And really, thank the Universe for housewarming parties because we all know what it's really about - forcing one to unpack that last stack of nagging boxes, get the art up on the wall for heaven's sake - that final push to pull it all together. Which means my writing room is finally unpacked. It will be an ongoing project, a labor of love, to really make it mine, but I can go in and have a place to sit and write now. A place with a door that no one is allowed to come through when it's closed.

This week's word is from Writing Down the Bones. If you haven't read it, I highly recommend it. It is one of my more cherished books on writing, written by a Buddhist practitioner.  And yes, that's a sponsored link but I only make recommendations if I actually like something. Cross my heart.
