I've just crawled out of the rubble of my Memorial Day weekend. On Friday I drove to Vermont with my sister. We got to my parent's late and I planned to fall right into bed and get a good night's sleep. Instead, I got hit with the worst bout of insomnia I've ever experienced. I was still wide awake when the sun came up, and for a good hour after.
Two hours after finally falling asleep it was time to get up and help out my mother with the greenhouse and flower shop. Then time to get back in the car for the long drive home. We planned to be back at home by 9-ish. Instead, my sister's new car started smelling like something was cooking under the hood so we pulled over and checked the oil. A drop or two was clinging to the dipstick. No problem, put some oil in, right? Wrong. The oil cap would not come off. It wouldn't even budge. Finally after a comedic run of strangers grappling with the stubborn cap, we got some oil in the car and were on our way. We got home at midnight.
After a few more hours of sleep I got up to get ready for a housewarming, followed immediately by a dinner. Followed by some more sleep. I planned to get this post up on Monday but forgot I had a wedding to go to. Sooo, got up and went to a wedding. Then to see the Avengers because someone at our table put a bug into my man's ear about how good it was. Another face-plant into my pillow and up to catch up on work and oh-my-god-what-happened-to-my-weekend?
So, here I am, in need of a weekend to recover from my weekend - which was actually lovely, just exhausting. Not a moment to curl up with a book so the word this week is the title of one of my favorite books which I spotted under the arm of one of the wedding guests (a librarian, so yes she brought a book to a wedding).
