100 Words – Been a Long Day
2011
Randomly I’m still getting malware warnings when I navigate around the site, but when I clear my cache it’s gone. I’ve been checking Google Webmaster Tools obsessively all day and evening to make sure they haven’t detected anything new. Things should be clean around here what with the hole-plugging, and the dirty code sweeping, and the fresh new template complete with brandy-new code and framework.
I’m not cool with how the header looks but it’s probably going to have to stay that way a while. Thanks for all your positive feedback and support so far. As usual, the word-nerd crew is awesome.
My pick from last week is Georgia with “In the Eye”.
The rain’s been thrumming outside for hours now. Another tropical storm in from the Gulf. I always did like hurricanes best, but I’m glad for any downpour.
When I was a kid, a solid storm meant Danny’d keep his hands off me a while. Neither he nor Momma would go to their shifts at the railroad. Me and brother’d get out of school. When the power went, we’d keep the weather radio going and play gin rummy by lamp light.
One year hurricane Erin washed out our bridge. I got five days’ peace while the National Guard built it new.
Aside from fixing my site after some malicious hackers got hold of it, I’ve been taken with children’s illustrations lately. That and vintage mary jane shoes. Guess I’m looking for a little whimsy in my life. Like the ilk of the Patricia Coombs Dorrie the witch series. Since I don’t have any copies of my own I can’t pull a word out of the book, so we’ll just go with:
WHIMSY

Whimsy eh?
The biggest challenge to me is using the word convincingly. Whimsy is a good one. It may take me awhile for this one.

Seems to me you did just fine.
Thanks so much. The first thing I thought of when I stopped for a moment was a child. What better than my own?
And yeah, the new site does look nice!

I can’t say the word without lifting the last syllable like my youngest daughter high on chocolate.
I may write something about a meth addict or my 6 year old high on chocolate; either or.
Your site looks really good. I just changed mine a week or so ago too. Feels good to be new.

“Feels good to be new”…I like that.
This one is going to be tough. Whimsy… hmmmm
Oh Tara, don’t even. You always make it seem effortless.
I was worried I might not be able to think of something for this prompt, but finally I did! Also like the re-design
Darn! Missed the cut off. Well, I did mine late… sigh. http://sassyirishlassie.com/2011/09/willowisp/
