100 Words – Guest Post from Purple Moose
2011
Word-Nerds, I Love You, I Do…
But I need a break. It’s not you, it’s me, I promise. I’ve got family stuff going on here that’s consuming my energy. But here’s what’s really awesome about this 100 Words thing and all of you. I put out the call for guest posts, and several of you have stepped up with the offer to take over for the next few weeks.
This week, our guest post is Purple Moose who has been a steadfast contributor around here, and I can’t think of anyone better to be the first guest host of 100 Words. Take it away P.M.!
******************************************************************
Thanks for the fun of writing a guest post! I have discovered the benefit of the linkytools, by the way. It was a bit tough to suss out all of the entries this week and I may have missed some. If so, I apologize. I tried to comment on all those I found, but sometimes blogger comments don’t agree with me – or my computer – or something. Sorry, guys.
I laughed as I read some of the entries – so been there and done that – the situations were right on target. I sighed at others in agreement from another direction.
In the end I chose the piece that made me laugh the loudest – and woke my hubby this early morning: Thin Spiral Notebook’s A New Recipe:
As much as I once loved him, now I can’t stand the sarcastic tone of his voice. Gawd, how I hate that man! His smug, condescending arrogance grates on my very last nerve. He treats me more like one of his vapid office subordinates than his wife of 40 years.
“You’ve outdone yourself, a delicious meal,” rare compliments from him, free of insulting qualifiers.
Little did he suspect his kabobs were courtesy of some poor, dumb creature who was tragically too slow crossing the highway. Mine were lamb. Smiling into my wine glass, “thank you dear, it’s a new recipe.”
The word for the day is…
Perfectionism
…as described in The Artist’s Way by Julia Cameron, perfectionism is not a good thing: Perfectionism has nothing to do with getting it right. It has nothing to do with fixing things. It has nothing to do with standards. Perfectionism is a refusal to let yourself move ahead.
That says so much about how I have written in the past. It’s something I’m working on letting go.
Note: any form of the word is fine by me. Perfect, perfectionist perfection, perfectionism – go for it./

Is the linky tool up? I can’t see it on this computer.
Anyhow, I’m in.
Phew. Tough word this round.
(Made more difficult since I was trying to make a follow up to my last entry.) I went with it as a very light theme/characteristic…

I wish I could comment on everyone’s posts. Sadly a few do not allow me to do so – there are a couple of blogger accounts that keep throwing me back to the blogger/google page.
And the last entry (Unexpected) I can’t comment because I can’t log in to the writer’s account.
So I’ll just thank EVERYONE now for playing with my chosen prompt. You’ll note it took me until today to post my own. lol.
Looking forward to the next guest poster. Thank you again, VV!!! Hope your thumb – and toe(??) are healing up.
