Velvet Verbosity Lives!

What else can you say when it’s been a while except, “it’s been a while”?

It’s been a while.

It’s also going to be a little while longer.  I don’t think it’s a secret at this point that I’m a bit of a luddite when it comes to backend IT stuff.  In fact, I avoid it at all costs, which means I have a backup but I’m not sure how to use.  I’m not even sure it’s the right kind of backup.  And it’s from February, so some stuff will be lost.

I can’t even think about it.  All that lost content.

But here I am, again claiming my own little corner of the internets.  I chose this theme because I plan on sharing more of my photography this time around.

Here we go.

I don’t have comments or other content, but copies of your posts live forever in my feed reader, if you need them.

Welcome, welcome, welcome, welcome back. I believe I took over 100 Words in March – so there can’t be much there that is lost. If I can help – just let me know.

Since I have been “follow”ing you, like forever, I have all of your stuff in my reader, just like Mary. There is nothing lost – except comments, I guess.

Besides, we should be able to restore the database if you have a backup. Which reminds me – I’d better do a backup of my blog. Just because.

I am SO glad to see you coming back! You can take full credit for getting me started on this fantastic journey, and I am truly grateful!

    Happy (and hopefully rapid) renaissance!

Thanks for the warm welcome, and the offers of helping me gather up my scattered content. Expect things to be wonky while I tinker under the hood over here.

My brain was just not cut out for the marriage between code and aesthetic output. I took a web design class many eons ago (1999 I think?), thinking it was the logical extension of my experience in Desktop Publishing (which I was good at). Immediately I hated it. The flipping back and forth between lines of code to the “site” and its appearance.

No. My head doesn’t want to tweak a line of code to move that border 4 more pixels over – oh wait, make that 6 pixels – wait, what? 2 more pixels to the left and my website is wonked? Dang-Blast-It!

I need to see what I’m creating as I create it. Imagine if we had to write that way? Imagine if constructing a sentence was a matter of putting a series of numbers together? You think A.S. Byatt could write that way? I think not. And I can’t design visual things that way either.

Of course the whole matter isn’t helped one bit by my being a perfectionist. Because when it takes hours to make one thing even come close to how I was envisioning it — well, I just ain’t got that kind of time. Result? I throw in the towel and lose inspiration.

My moleskin notebooks never gave me this much trouble!

And that was my long-winded way of saying…expect to see something different every time you visit until I’m satisfied.

I understand welcome back is in order, but for me I just need to say hi and meet up with you in blogosphere. I WISH I could remember where I read about your blog, whether it was in someone else’s blog or in Twitter or wherever time and space our word and thoughts float into. Anyway, while I was searching for you and the hundred word stories, I came across the Six Word Memoirs and thought you might have something to do with them also??? I’ve started my own Six Word Memoir Monday (a la Smith Magazine) and hope you’ll stop by sometime. More importantly I hope I’m up to trying my hand someday soon and sending you a 100 words.
